Durability

Luxury vinyl is inherently waterproof. It won't swell, buckle, or peel if exposed to water, making it the gold standard for kitchens, bathrooms, and basements. It’s pet-proof, kid-proof, and can be damp-moped in seconds, staying beautiful for decades with minimal effort.

Life Span

Unlike real wood, it won't warp or stain, saving you thousands in potential repairs and refinishing over its 25-year life. 20 mil wear layers are the professional standard for a "30-year" floor. A 12 mil layer is typically rated for 15–20 years of residential use.

Health and Maintenance

While waterproof, standing water can still seep through seams and damage the subfloor. Spills should still be cleaned promptly. Use cleaners specifically labeled for vinyl. Avoid vinegar or dish soap, as their acidity or film-forming ingredients can dull the finish over time.

Vinyl Flooring Types

SPC (Stone Plastic Composite)

Best for high-traffic areas, kitchens, and rooms with heavy furniture. It is virtually dent-proof. If you drop a heavy pot, the floor won't crack or pit. The core is made of roughly 60-70% limestone and plastic.

WPC (Wood Plastic Composite)

WPC uses a core made of wood flour and plasticizers with a "foaming agent" to add air. It is best for bedrooms, playrooms, and living areas where you might walk barefoot or kids might play on the floor.

LVP / LVT (Luxury Vinyl Plank or Tile)

These terms describe the format, but are often used to refer to "traditional" flexible vinyl. LVP are planks that look like wood. LVT are tiles that look like stone, marble, or ceramic.

Sheet Vinyl

A continuous roll of flooring. Best for bathrooms or laundry rooms where you want zero seams for water to seep through.
