Durability and Renewability

A standard 3/4" solid plank can be sanded and refinished 4 to 7 times. This means a homeowner can completely change the floor's color or remove decades of scratches without replacing the boards.

Life Span

Unlike carpet or vinyl, solid hardwood is one of the few home improvements that can legitimately last for a century. While the upfront cost is higher, the "cost per year" is lower than any other material.

Health and Maintenance

Hardwood does not trap dust mites, pet dander, or mold. It is the #1 recommendation from doctors for families with respiratory issues or allergies. Modern finishes make these floors "sweep and go." No deep-steam cleaning or specialized chemicals are required, just a microfiber mop and a wood-safe cleaner.

Hardwood Flooring Types

Solid Hardwood Flooring

Solid hardwood is the "gold standard" for tradition. It is usually limited to 5" widths to prevent warping. Yielding a Return on Investment (ROI) of 70% to 80%. In many markets, houses with hardwood floors sell faster and for higher asking prices. A standard 3/4" solid plank can be sanded and refinished 4 to 7 times.

Engineered Hardwood Flooring

Engineered wood can easily be 7", 9", or even 12" wide, allowing for a high-end, modern look. Because it resists moisture better, it can be installed below-grade (basements), where solid wood would fail. While premium engineered wood can be expensive, the installation labor is often 30%–50% cheaper and faster than solid wood, especially if using a "click-lock" or "floating" system.
